Issues related to the natural environment

In the Śnieżka Group, Issues related to the natural environment are addressed in accordance with the applicable legal requirements and in accordance with the instructions laid down in the ISO 14001: 2005 Environmental Management System in place in the Parent Company. A strategic objective is to protect natural resources by adhering to and implementing environmental requirements and by fostering proper attitudes and awareness among the employees through appropriate management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, packaging, reduction of VOC emissions into the air and protection of water and soil.

In respect of the adopted assumptions, bearing in mind the continuous technological supervision over the properties of raw materials and finished products with a view to ensuring their compliance with the requirements which must be satisfied to receive the “Ecolabel” for its products, the Parent Company endeavors to reduce the impact of its plant on the natural environment. The fulfillment of environmental requirements is pursued through the efficient consumption of raw materials and energy, compliance with the regulatory norms for emissions of pollutants into the air, water and soil, rational management of waste and packaging and the application of solutions that improve the operational safety of technological installations.

The Company monitors its environmental impact on an ongoing basis by measuring its consumption of utilities and emissions of pollutants and by keeping pertinent registers, records, lists and databases, including those on waste and packaging released into the natural environment.
The Śnieżka Group has obtained the necessary environmental decisions, regularly pays its environmental fees, fulfills its reporting obligations and participates in the creation and maintenance of a system for the collection, transport, recovery and disposal of waste generated from packaging introduced into the environment and participates in the conduct of educational campaigns.
The audits and inspections conducted by state authorities, the results of measurements of the emission of air pollutants and effluents and the contents of waste-related records demonstrate compliance with the environmental norms and the requirements and limits provided for in the pertinent decisions issued to date. This confirms the fact that the Group’s properly conducted environmental management efforts generate the intended business results.

The philosophy of environmentally-friendly operations contributes not only to the production process but also to the high quality of our products. Thanks to the continuous monitoring of parameters such as the content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), our emissions satisfy the most stringent requirements in terms of safety for people and the natural environment. The monitoring is conducted using various methods, including gas chromatography in an in-house laboratory certified by the Polish Center for Accreditation. These methods are focused on the measurement of VOC content in wet products and the volume of their emissions from coating during the product drying process. Testing these parameters enables the Group to conduct continuous monitoring of VOC concentrations and to maintain the highest declared standards which directly affect the quality of air inside painted facilities and thus the health of people who stay inside them. The environmentally-friendly solutions used in the products are collectively managed through the “Green Idea” philosophy implemented by the Group, including among others internal certifications awarded to products with the highest pro-environmental standards.
The “Green Idea” symbol also identifies good practices applied by the Parent Company in the field of environmental care implemented in a workplace. Such activities include, among others, the possibility of using waste segregation bins in the company or showing care for the environment by striving to limit the printing of e-mail materials.
